What will my first session be like?The first appointment will involve us going through your illness, pains or needs and we will discuss your medical history in order to put together the ideal treatment. To fully understand your situation and the source of your distresses, I will be asking you specific questions, take your pulse, observe your tongue and undertake a physical examination if necessary. Thanks to the information collated, I will be able to give a thorough Chinese medicine diagnosis, provide a treatment plan, and advise you on which therapy should be used in order to help you regain your health and well-being.

Are the acupuncture needles sterile?We only use high quality single-use sterile needles, and dispose of them carefully for destruction in a special container. It is totally safe and hygienic.

Are the sessions covered by my insurance?Reimbursement for Chinese medicine takes place if the patient has health insurance with additional cover and the practitioner meets the requirements set by the patient's health insurer. We advise you to check with your additional health care insurance if they can cover these costs. Herbal supplements are not reimbursed. As a licensed acupuncturist and TCM therapist in the Dutch Professional Association of Chinese Medicine NBCG-Yi and Zhong, most of the complementary health insurances cover part of the treatments. Is acupuncture painful?Acupuncture needles are very thin (0.25 mm) and it is most common that the patients do not feel the insertion. In order to ensure the efficiency of the treatment, we will need to perform a method called "De-Qi" in Chinese. This starts with a light tingling feeling increasing to a heavier and sharper sensation depending on the strength we choose to use within the treatment. With an open communication, we will find the perfect sensation that suits you.

Can Chinese Medicine help with chronic conditions?Yes, Chinese medicine researches the root of the disease and tries to understand the mechanism of the imbalance. This allows us to understand chronic health issues in a very efficient way. Herbal therapy combined with acupuncture gives the best chance of success.

Can TCM be combined with a Western medicine treatment?In China, Western medicine and Chinese medicine are frequently combined together to fight against illnesses and to increase health. Each medicine has its benefits and limits. By combining different therapies, the patient is getting the best of each medicine with ultimate results. This is mostly true in heavy pathologies.

Is there any cancellation fee?You can cancel your appointment free of charge if it is done at least 48 hours in advance. For a late cancellation (less than 48 hours in advance), or for a no-show to the appointment, the full amount of the session will be charged and due.
